DEPOSITION is a term borrowed from physics, referring to the process of turning volatile material into solid matter. In this solo performance, artist and interpreter Michele Rizzo, draws inspiration from this specific process of transformation to present to the audience a possible reverse transcendence. Going from the virtual to the deeply humane and back. The work aims to catalyse a process of crystallisation, in which the different components of the performance are drawn to both converge towards eachother and align. Thus landing in an environment in which the material and the ephemeral co-exist. The host, actor and guardian of this space and experience is the gaze, the immaterial extension of the body, projected from the doors of imagination onto the world, able to touch upon spaces afar. Starting from trance-like minimal movement, Michele proposes a dance between the acts of evading, grasping and directing his own gaze and that of the spectator.
DEPOSITION is the third chapter in a trilogy, initiated by the works HIGHER and SPACEWALK. Just like in the first and second chapter, image and sound are key elements in the performance. This time around light and set design is made in collaboration with Lukas Heistinger. A new and intriguing musical score is composed by Billy Bultheel.
